our mission is to share the love of jesus christ.
hunger
Our feeding program is designed for reproduction, consisting entirely of in-country resources. We want to create a balanced nutritional meal that is familiar to our kids. We use resources in our community so families can easily reproduce meals in their own homes. By doing this, we are able to boost the economy of our village. Our meals consist of one starch (nshima), one protein (chicken, sausage), a vegetable (cabbage, greens), and a soup/sauce traditional to Zambia.
education
Zambian culture often expects children to have great responsibility at a young age. Some of our kids are raising their brothers and sisters while helping their families maintain an income. They rarely – if ever – get the opportunity to be a kid. We hold Kids Clubs seven days a week. During this time, our staff wraps these kids in the love of Christ. We play games, sing songs, do homework, and most importantly, give them the opportunity to learn about God’s unending love through Jesus.
job creation
We are cultivating an 11,000 sq. ft. garden on our land which will help with our feeding program and provide food for our community. During the constructing of our first orphan house, we hired local men to actively learn construction skills from a licensed contractor. In addition, we have hired local women to weave and sell baskets, supporting their families and our community. We have a poultry farmer who handles our gardening and poultry houses. Our overseer and his family live at Luyando to handle operations. These jobs are providing new opportunities to change our community!
sustainability
We think critically about every aspect of our efforts in order to create strategies that are sustainable. We work with Zambians to lead our projects in their country. We also weave sustainability into our ongoing provision through solar power and a self-sustaining poultry farm. Our garden project not only creates food for families in our village, but it partly supplies our feeding program as well. Our hope is to create a sustainable future with every decision we make.
